I was left with only a few recommendations from the Spring 2012 Collection by Octavio Carlin with ready to wear for contemporary women seeking a vintage 1920’s vibe. The combination of silky charmeuse fabrics with low back free forming cuts, cinched at the lower waist with complementing accents were classic nouveau and simple yet delicately creative. The fabrics were perhaps the best part of each piece, with light refracting off at loosely held angles to give each piece depth and intelligence. Please ignore all else, with butterfly prints that literally had my eyes cringing. Not to simply be another yes press for the sake of an invite, I have to state my concern in Octavio Carlin’s direction which lacks focus of all accessorized incorporations. It was a collection that tried too hard, going beyond what was necessary with extremely heavy makeup by Napoleon Perdis and glittering dead weight provided by Bijou Trésor. I understand that there was a vision to the line, I am just not sure it was one entirely worth seeing…
Moving on to the highlight of not only my night, my life; Furne One, the designer hailing from personal creation Amato Couture. If you have not heard of the native Filipino, then there is no time like the present. Fashion is self expression and I don’t want designers to ask for acceptance with a side of order. Furne One delivered. The show received a standing ovation with a breathtaking (make that gasping) collection leaving little doubt as to why. Established in Dubai, Furne One is renown on the international market for his gorgeously hand crafted gowns that make everything else look mundane at best. This is not your ordinary couture line. Modus operandi is taken to a level few of us can ever reach, even in our dreams. No matter, when there is Furne One to realize the possibilities in a spindle of thread, needle, and piece of fabric garnished with carefully orchestrated jewels - an attribute not to be taken lightly as he has a history of working closely with Swarovski. Shapes and styles are straight out of what is to become legend in fashion. He quite literally stole the show, if not the entire week for those who are fans of design that simultaneously combines ingenuity layered with themes centuries old. Furne One’s new Spring 2012 collection was organic innovation, detailing pieces that discuss the feminist role in nature, or more fittingly, her face in it. For those designing, you should take a hint from this creator of what fashion stands for and should be. Better yet, take a hint from the audience’s reaction.
Christ-like inspiration What couture should be trying to accomplish; something different

Let’s be honest about what Style Fashion Week LA really is: one awesome work party. Not to be forgotten is the second-to-runway favorite portions of the evening: pre-reception and after party, all made possible by sponsors as heavily into supporting LA Fashion Week as we are into the actual designers. Much love to DJ Paper, who could have been on the runway himself, if only stalking the catwalk to the imaginative renditions of stellar cut up tracks he had running round the tables all night. Everyone has a good time because of the open bar, compliments of Pacific Coast Bar & Beverage. Or maybe the showcase of Aston Martin’s Galpin Premier Collection Virage CP in Madagascar Orange put everyone in a good mood. With much support was Napoleon Perdis, doing an amazing promotional offering of touch-ups throughout the night for guests, Voce Haircare and Bijou Trésor were also there front and center, literally. Appreciation goes out to Vibiana for providing a tasteful venue I’d try sneaking into, if not for the press pass. For those of you not mention as sponsors or supporters from the event, thank you.
Received a three minute standing ovation
