Katheryn Rice Fashion - Turning Cinderella into Carmella

There is a very talented young LA-based fashion designer named Katheryn Rice with a very impacting line (Carmella....named after her grandmother) and she has a profound understanding of a woman’s body and the sensual manner in which to adorn it. The key adjective to describe her dresses is “wearable,”  insofar as spawning beautiful romantic creations that any woman would be thrilled to reveal at the most important occasions of her life.   That is a notable point because, unfortunately,  so much contemporary ladies fashion has strayed down strange roads, heralding the kinds of  oddball garments that only appeal to women of the most perverse and narcissistic mindsets.  Not only do Rice’s designs serve to enhance the attractiveness of the female form via simple, well-tailored, silhouettes but they also offer tremendous appeal to the men who inevitably will yearn to lay their rough hands upon the silky fabrics and feverishly remove Rice’s intoxicating  “gift wrapping” in order to discover the womanly reward contained therein.

 Her Spring/Summer 2012 Collection was unveiled at  a private Hollywood Hills residential reception, co-hosted by her dashing, handsome husband, Todd Feldman, super-agent at CAA, whose clients span a “Who’s Who” of major Hollywood names.  Their immense, lush, green backyard  featured a brilliant baby- blue swimming pool, surrounded by rows of pale female mannequins,  clothed in Rice’s breathtaking silks,  and each subtly illuminated by the eerie glow of  soft, white lights.  The cumulative effect was nothing less than otherworldly, the kind of night magic that makes guests feel as though they had been transported into a mystical land beyond the realm of their imagination.

The only misgiving I had about the entire  fashion presentation is this:  as of yet, Ms. Rice has yet to affiliate her fashion line with any particular social cause.    In our extremely distressed world,  it seems imperative that any fashion line MUST attach itself to some kind of social action  in order to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.   Fashion that is devoted solely to frivolous indulgence is simply an obscene concept today when so many are simply trying to find clean, basic garments  in order  to keep themselves warm in the frosty winter cold  — but the good news is that Ms. Rice intends to find a stirring passion that will assist the healing of some societal wound.  She is evolving, slowly but surely, and by the time she bursts upon “the scene,” I have no doubt that she will be a shining butterfly , no less amazing than her silken chiffons and delicate crepes.

Someday, probably in the not-too-distant future, a smart fashion house will discover Rice’s designs, then place them in a major retailing chain(s).    When that happy day arrives (as it surely will!), then men from all across the land will smile, because Rice knows exactly what the male appetite craves .....the gentle, fluttering fabrics that inspire conquest......the sultry, flowing robes, once appreciated, that must be urgently ripped away.......and the taste of the naked, knowing temptress, finally unveiled, who had the good sense to wear Carmella  and whip her man into a passionate, lusty frenzy.
