Nearly 4 million people die annually from the lack of water. Of the 9,800 deaths that occur every day from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation, 84% are in children under 14 years old. Additionally, walking alone for more than 4 hours every day to fetch water keeps them away from school and puts them at risk of sexual harassment and assault. Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all sickness and disease.

The Generosity Water 3rd annual “Night of Generosity” gala, presented with Tickets-for-Charity® on Friday, March 18, 2011, brought together a selective Hollywood elite and successful business owners, raising over $100,000 in donations, which will result in the building of 23 water wells in Haiti later this year. Generosity Water also announced an additional $30,000 raised in collaboration with Tickets-for-Charity through ongoing sales of Katy Perry concert tickets, which will support another 10 clean water wells in developing nations.

E! personalities Jason Kennedy and Guiliana Rancic, hosted the star-studded event that took place at the private Beverly Hills estate of music producer and philanthropist, Wayne Kao. Celebrities including actor Jared Leto, Stephanie Pratt (The Hills), actress Kelly Bensimon (Real Housewives of New York), Jayde Nicole (Holly’s World) and Glee’s Charlotte Ross were among the hundreds of generous donors who attended the event which lead up to the international observance of World Water Day on March 22.
TV actor Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill), Bill and Guiliana Rancic and boxing champion Andre Berto were among the stars that sponsored wells during the evening’s live auction, which raised $60,000. Other funding for the event came from advance ticket sales, corporate sponsors and a silent auction. Voli Spirits, Stella Artois, and Icelandic Glacial donated complimentary cocktails and refreshments.
Longtime supporter Katy Perry has made some of the best seats in the house for her North American California Dreams tour available through Tickets-for-Charity to benefit Generosity Water and other nationally respected charities. To date, Katy and her generous fans have raised nearly $30,000 for Generosity Water with donations made through ticket sales on www.ticketsforcharity.com. In addition to Katy Perry’s tour, music fans nationwide can also benefit Generosity Water year-round by purchasing tickets to some of the season’s hottest concerts where every purchase benefits charity.
The many supporters and volunteers in the house spoke enthusiastically about the work of the organization “We started at a total cost $10,000 per well, but the executive team has been able to take it down to as low as $3,000.” Generosity Water is dedicated to ending the clean water crisis in developing countries one community at the time.
